File Preparation for Offset Printing — Key Requirements

To ensure the highest print quality, it’s essential to prepare files correctly for offset printing. Even small errors can affect the final result, so please follow these core rules.

  1. Document Format
  • Supply files as PDF (Press Quality).
  • We also accept AI, EPS, CDR, TIFF, PSD (vector or raster).
  • Convert all fonts to outlines or embed them in the PDF.

2. Colour Settings

Spalvų režimas – CMYK (RGB spalvos turi būti konvertuotos į CMYK).
Do not use spot (Pantone) colours unless agreed with the print shop.

For black text use 100% K; for large black areas use rich black (C40 M30 Y30 K100).

3. Resolution

Optimal resolution for images and illustrations: 300 dpi.

Avoid anything below 250 dpi to prevent softness or blur.

4. Bleed & Safe Area

Add 3–5 mm bleed on all sides.

Keep important text and graphics at least 5 mm inside the trim to avoid cutting.

5. Line Weight & Type Size

Minimum line weight: 0.25 pt.

Minimum recommended type size: 6 pt (smaller text may be hard to read).

Do not set white objects to overprint (they will disappear in print).

6. Effects & Transparency

Flatten transparency, shadows and effects to avoid output issues.

For gradients, use 16-bit colour depth to minimise banding.

7. Trim & Fold Marks

Include crop/trim marks and fold lines where needed.

Properly prepared files help the printing process run smoothly and without additional corrections. If you have any questions, contact us — we’ll be happy to help.
